Adjusting phone settings such as Battery Saver could impact receiving push notifications for aurora alerts. To ensure you receive alerts, verify that Notifications for AuroraWatch UK are enabled in your phone's Settings/Notifications/App settings.

The app does not send historical alerts; if your phone is offline or cannot connect to the internet before the next data update, you may miss alerts if the status changes too quickly. There is a necessary delay before alerts are dispatched, as recommended by Lancaster University for data stability.

Lancaster University's alerts primarily rely on their Lancaster magnetometer, though additional magnetometers like the one in Shetland are available. The default choice tends to be more cautious in alerting, suitable for residents of England but potentially less pertinent for individuals farther north where auroras are more frequent.
